Getting you back on track after a dental emergency

Dental pain can be extremely challenging to endure, and intense pain that stops you from going about your day or that wakes you up at night is worth getting in touch over.

Should your bridges, dentures or crowns become badly damaged, this may constitute a dental emergency, especially if the damage is extensive. The same goes for braces. Should these become damaged, they could cause damage to the soft tissues in your mouth, and they will also inhibit your chewing and speaking ability.

Similarly, if you have lost your Invisalign® aligners, these will need to be replaced as soon as possible to avoid jeopardising the long-term success of treatment.

If a blow to the mouth has caused uninterrupted bleeding, this is a reason to contact us for an emergency appointment.

Intense wisdom tooth pain (often accompanied by a bad taste in your mouth) indicates that the teeth have become impacted. In some cases, we may be able to simply provide antibiotics to treat an infection in the area. However, if the teeth are seriously impacted, they will need to be taken out.

Swelling in the jaw area could indicate a serious dental infection (an abscess) or a blocked salivary gland. Both of these issues are classed as emergencies.

Common treatments we may suggest and provide following an emergency dentist appointment include:

An extraction (if the tooth has been knocked out and damaged or a dental infection is irrevocable).
Ongoing periodontal treatment.
Fillings and crowns.
Prescription of antibiotics.
Painkillers.

If it isn’t possible to save your tooth, we can advise you on your next steps for replacing the vacant socket left behind after an extraction (this isn’t applicable to wisdom tooth removal).

We may recommend an implant consultation so you can find out about the benefits of our most long-term tooth replacement solution.

My daughter needed teeth out before braces were fitted and her newly privatised dentist quoted £560. Stressing about this cost especially in todays world, i immediately began looking for a new dentist. A friend referred me to Ashbourne Road Dental practice via Kerri, one of the receptionists.She was fabulous and got not only my daughter set up with an appointment but got the whole family set up here with an NHS dentist, which meant that it cost me nothing for my daughter to have her teeth out, which was amazing. Her appointment was also booked close to me ringing up, which was perfectA few appointments later, and we are still extremely happy. My daughters tooth removals went very well, and any appointments or treatments for the rest of the family have been great. The staff are all lovely and friendly and make sure they talk to my children, not just to me or my husband.My son had toothache for a few days and i rang up just after opening one day and he had an appointment an hour later.I would and have told people looking for a dentist to try here.

I cannot recommend Dr Rehman enough. I had 2 back teeth removed after suffering with severe toothache for months and he dealt with it painlessly and quickly, so relieved. Highly recommend these dentists, they are brilliant, especially Dr Rehman!

Been attending this dental practice for over 2 years now. They are fab, couldn't ask for a more compatonate team. They are all very welcoming and put you at ease. My first dentist appointment in 5 years. Always been a very nervous patient and the last dentist I saw made me feel so horrific about myself and I've been petrified since. Today was so totally different. Both staff in the room made me feel comfortable, I became upset as soon as they called my name and they sat me down with a glass of water, told me to forget about the appointment for a moment and had little chat to help calm me down. They asked if I was with someone and then fetched my husband from the waiting room to make me feel more comfortable. They were incredibly compassionate and made me feel more at ease than I've ever felt in my life at a dentist. Everything was explained to me clearly and they've made me feel so much better about my dental situation that I cried again from relief. Not my usual dentist but I was away from home when I chipped my front tooth and wanted it fixed asap. I managed to get an emergency dentist appt at Ashbourne road dental at short notice hoping for a temporary solution until I was back home and could see my own dentist. Not only was I able to be seen but I actually had a high quality painless and permanent fix on the day at a very reasonable price. Fantastic service that exceeded all expectations from Dr Hasaan and the rest of the staff were extremely friendly too. I don't live in Derby so probably won't be back but I would recommend this practice to anyone that does :)

I was seen promptly and was dealt with kindness and courtesy. It was explained that esthetically my implants would look better if I had a graft onto the lower gum. I said I was not interested however as the lower teeth were not visible at any time, even when laughing, so the Dentist was happy to proceed on the basis that the implants would be visible, but only to me! I was then given an appointment for the proper teeth to be fitted after numerous photos were taken.

Absolutely amazing, I have never been more at ease for a dental procedure. I have autism and ADHD and never have I found a dental practise so welcoming and understanding.
